Liquefaction is the loss of soil strength during seismic shaking. The consequences of liquefaction can include loss of foundation support and/or large lateral deformations resulting in severe building damage or even collapse. GAIA, in combination with its parent company Golder, is ideally positioned to provide optimized design-build solutions to problems such as these.
Our detailed understanding of the geotechnical properties of soils and the variety of techniques available to mitigate liquefaction allow us to select and cost-effectively implement the best solution for each site. Solutions range from deep dynamic compaction and vibroflotation stone columns to deep soil mixing, jet grouting and even soil freezing.
