Slope Stabilization and Debris Flow Mitigation

Natural erosion processes such as those from moving water and freeze-thaw, or man made operations such as excavation or regrading can lead to undermining and destabilization of both natural and man-made slopes, often impacting properties and structures both near the crest and toe of slopes. Slope stabilization can be effected in many ways but should ideally be designed to suit the environment, taking into account the importance of the facilities to be protected and/or the potential risks and consequences of failure.

GAIA specializes in developing designs and construction techniques that blend in with the local environment and provide cost-effective lasting solutions. From hard engineered walls using precast elements to soft bio-engineering solutions, to mechanically stabilized earth, to in situ ground improvement and soil reinforcement, GAIA, together with its parent company Golder, designs and constructs stabilization measures for a wide variety of slope problems. Our experience includes sites with highly challenging access issues, as well as those in sensitive environments.
