Soil Freezing

Like many of the construction techniques used by GAIA, Soil Freezing is often considered to be at the fringe of traditional construction. A very powerful technique, soil freezing in the right application can provide significant overall benefits over more conventional approaches. Working with specialized subcontractors and the design team in Golder, GAIA is able to offer a design-build solution for soil freezing for applications such as temporary shoring in areas of high water table, contaminant containment in groundwater, liquefaction mitigation in loose soils, and settlement mitigation in soft soils. Although not always cost competitive, in the right location, soil freezing can be the best way forward.
