Surface Openings

GAIA has provided a variety of appropriate solutions to manage risks related to openings in the ground surface, including shafts, raises, adits, pits and trenches. For site-specific conditions, GAIA has completed:

• Backfilling of shallow shafts and raises;
• Sealing of deeper shafts and raises with poured-in place concrete caps or pre-cast concrete beams;
• Plugging, blasting down and backfilling of adit portals with watertight bulkheads to seal off access;
• Backfilling and regrading of trenches with clean waste rock.
